In December, Amandla! Magazine will celebrate the publication of its 100th issue. This edition will focus on the rise of the Right and the way forward for the Leftist movements. Amandla! aims to provide a platform for contesting public space, discourse and debate from rigorous and non-sectarian left perspectives. In addition to articulating a leftist voice that engages with contemporary issues, a primary objective of Amandla! is to foster greater collaboration among diverse segments of the left, including activists and intellectuals from various traditions and geographic regions within the country.
We invite you to participate in a weekend dedicated to radical ideas, debate, education, music, film, and culture from December 12 to 14, 2025, at the University of Johannesburg’s Hockey Club in Melville. Distinguished guest speakers will include Zarah Sultana, a leading British socialist figure, Brazilian socialist Vivi Reis, and Kenyan social justice advocate Sefu Sanni, among others.
